Description

Common name: Epilobium hirsutum. Great willowherb. Lus na Tríonóide.

General:
This population originates from Co Down. Irish Grid reference: J594448.
Perennial. Tall sturdy large flowered, up to 1.5m tall. Attractive deep pink flowers with prominent white cross shaped stigma.

Benefits:
Our beekeeping friend sought it out for her bees and easily got good germination.

Habitat:
Damp meadows, marshes and river banks.

Sowing guidelines:
Sow late autumn or early spring into a seed tray, prick out when large enough to handle and plant out when big enough. It will withstand long unruly grass by rising above it.

Cultural history:
Our biggest native willowherb.

Avg contents: 100 seeds.
