This population originates from Co Down. Irish Grid reference: J593448.
Annual to 50cms scrambling up through long grass. Small pink flowers, June to August, the beauty of this plant is in its foliage.

Benefits:
Understudied.

Habitat:
Grassland and hedgerows.

Sowing guidelines:
Sow late autumn or early spring into trays, plant out when large enough to handle. Should reseed themselves after the first year, with some careful weeding they should become established.

Cultural history:
A famine food, the root would have been cooked. Flowers produce a brown dye. Considered medicinal.
