Description

Lamium hybridum – Cut-leaved dead nettle. Caochneantóg Dhiosctha.

General:
This population originates from Co Down. Irish Grid reference: J594448.
Annual. One of our first spring flowers in March, continuous flowering until October. Pinky/purple flowers around 6” tall.
I must confess – to anyone who bought this Lamium from us in the past, it was actually Lamium hybridum you bought and not Lamium purpureum. Apologies for that, and thank you Mr Day for helping me with this. So, it’s right now. Both plants have the same status – Clive A. Stace., and the same flowering times, so it won’t make a difference to the bees. If you’ve been affected by this please do get in touch and i’ll make amends however i can. Debbie

Benefits:
Tight flower heads eventually extending from the bottom up. Great for queens emerging from hibernation in March/April and can help in the hungry gap in July.

Habitat:
Open waste ground. Can grow in semi-shade/woodland.

Sowing guidelines:
Sow from early spring through to July into a seed tray or a well prepared seed bed in the garden.

Cultural history:
Like the woundworts, leaves can be applied to wounds. Some people eat the young leaves.

Avg contents: 100 seeds.
